Community Greening Hub

Plant, learn, listen.

Get information on resources to green our communities: Community Forester workshop series and neighborhood Community Foresters; neighborhood Community Connectors leading greening projects; Community Climate Ambassadors working on climate resilience; rainwater harvesting and tree irrigation techniques; and other community resources.

Note: our Community Greening Hub is currently under construction as we work to format our resources and compile external resources to best serve you

Community Forester

A five-part workshop series that culminates with an earned leadership badge, qualifying graduates to plant and steward Denver’s urban forest. Some Community Foresters are neighborhood specific and work as guides alongside our Community Connectors and Community Climate Ambassadors.

Please GO HERE to learn more about each of the five workshops, and to sign up to get notified when the 2025 registration window opens again in February. Plan to come learn about trees with us!

Community Connectors

Our Community Connectors are paid contractors with longstanding connections to low canopy neighborhoods, passionate about equity and greening, who want to become leaders in their community. CCs teach us what their neighborhood needs and we share resources to boost their project’s success.

Community Climate Ambassadors

Similar to Community Connectors, our Climate Ambassadors work in the Barnum and Valverde neighborhoods with residents, business owners, and community groups on climate resiliency and how their neighborhoods can work together to address extreme heat and water conservation.

Community Tree Adoptions

Consider these mini Denver Digs. Together with our Community Connectors, we choose a variety of beautiful fruit bearing and shade trees for planting within designated neighborhoods. We then run adoption events together, connecting residents with trees.

Learn more at our Community Tree Adoptions page.

Rainwater Harvesting

Get information on rainwater collection, including learning about Denver’s laws on collection, building and utilizing rain barrels, and how to make the most of your harvest. We also offer tree irrigation buckets for sites without irrigation lines or hoses.

West Denver residents can apply for free rain barrels, mini rain garden kits, and downspout redirects, available Summer 2024. Learn more on our Rainwater Harvesting page.

Community Resources

Learn from The Park People, Denver Parks & Recreation, Denver's Office of Climate Action, Sustainability, & Resilience, as well as other local groups about tree benefits, greening projects, pruning, turf reduction, and other ways you can help create a healthy, resilient community.

Community Greening Projects

The Park People works in partnership with residents and community partners throughout Denver's communities. Through special community-led and community-engaged greening projects, we support the visions residents have for their communities.
