TreeForce Pre-apprentice Interest Form

Thank you for your interest in joining TreeForce! Below are eligibility requirements, cohort information, and an interest form. You can complete the TreeForce interest form to receive an application by email when our next application period is open.

Eligibility

While we would love to be able to accept everyone interested in joining TreeForce, a limited number of spots are available for each cohort. We prioritize people who:
  • are 18+ years of age
  • are considered historically underserved (for example, justice involved/impacted, opportunity youth, low income, BIPOC, those identifying as women and/or non-binary; and/or NEST neighborhood residents) 
  • express a desire to pursue a career in urban forestry and/or the tree care industry
  • communicate a positive attitude and willingness to work on a team
  • are committed to participating and learning new things
  • express an openness to feedback and direction
  • possess a Valid driver's license or are on track to have one by the mid-point of the program
  • have reliable, stable transportation and stable housing
  • express an inclination towards field work and/or working outside, and the ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • have the ability to pass a fair chance employer background check (Please note that some offenses will disqualify from eligibility and will be reviewed on a case by case basis. For example, The Park People does not accept any sex offenses at this time) 
  • have the ability to pass periodic drug screening

How to Apply

Step 1 (when not accepting applications):

Fill out interest form. This is NOT an application and completing it does not count as applying. Filling this out means we'll send you an email with a link to apply when we're accepting applications.

Step 2:

Apply! Fill out the online application. It will be available here when applications are open so check back or fill out the notification form to receive and email when it's open. We typically post the application about 6 weeks before the cohort start date.

Step 3:

Interview. After we receive your application, we'll contact you to schedule a phone call. You must interview in order to be considered. We do these interviews about 4 weeks before the start date.

After the interview process, we will let you know if you're in with about 2 weeks notice before the program starts.

The Spring 2026 cohort is scheduled to run from March 2 - April 30
(Additional contract work may be available after graduation)
 
Monday-Thursday, 7:30am-2:00pm-classroom, fieldwork, and hands-on learning sessions
Friday-no programming [unless graduation is on Friday]

Location:

Start and end each day at The Park People's office: 
450 Decatur St. Denver, CO 80204
*We will travel together to additional locations in and around the Denver metro area. Any transportation from 450 Decatur Street to field work or training sites will be provided by The Park People.
 
Participants are provided a $20 an hour participatory stipend (increased to $21 an hour midway through the program) for 28 hours a week.

Thank you for your interest in joining the TreeForce crew at The Park People TreeForce pre-apprentices come from all corners of the Denver metro region and from a variety of backgrounds.

As a pre-apprentice, you'll spend seven weeks exploring what careers in tree care are like and learning essential skills to set you apart as you launch your job search. Our curriculum starts with the basics in Trees 101 and progresses through an introduction to identification, planting, pruning, pests and disease, and climbing and rigging. Throughout the course, your instructors will introduce you to potential employers and provide support and guidance in resume building and interview skills. 

As a tree care professional, you'll work daily to contribute to the health and beauty of our communities and urban ecosystem, all while earning a family-supporting income.
